Ambivalence in attitudes toward forgiveness

Are attitudes toward forgiveness ambivalent? To answer this question and explore whether such ambivalence predicts individuals’ propensity to forgive tendency view as desirable/virtuous, we asked undergraduates (N = 159) complete measures of forgiveness, tendencies be forgiving/vengeful. Using a number metrics, our findings suggest that are moderately ambivalent. In addition, predicted, was associated with diminished inclination forgiving, enhanced pro-vengeance orientation, less idealistic views forgiveness.
